Memorial Park

Memorial Park was originally built as a World War I memorial.  It is also used to commemorate other military milestones including World War II.  Anzac commemorations are held here each year.  The site now includes the anchor from the HMNZS Waikato.  Next to it you can also see the replica of a spitfire plane.

Parana Park – The Potter Children’s Garden

Parana Park is located next to the Memorial Park.  An ideal area to take the kids and watch them play.  The park includes play equipment, a paddling pool and a cute outdoor theatre.  Make sure you check out the Aviary as well.

Innes Common is known for the Waikato Balloon Festival as well as many other activities.  Park anyway on the lake and walk around – about 2kms.  If you get thirsty or hungry along the way, stop at the cafe next to the playground.

Hamilton Farmers Market and Jubilee Park

The Hamilton Farmers Market is on Sunday mornings.  No problem if it’s raining as it’s indoors.  The perfect place to pick up fresh vegetables, jams as well as a yummy coffee.  We loved the idea that you can borrow mug for your coffee and return it when finished.  It was a very busy place when we visited and we highly recommend and support this farmers market.
